Las Vegas, NV (June 14, 2026) – A 42-year-old man was seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night, June 13, on East Flamingo Road in Las Vegas.
According to investigators, the accident occurred at about 9:14 p.m. on East Flamingo Road east of South Topaz Street. Evidence and witness accounts indicated the man was crossing the roadway from south to north outside of a marked or unmarked crosswalk when he entered the path of a westbound 2013 Lexus ES350 driven by a 72-year-old man.
Police said the Lexus hit the pedestrian with the front of the vehicle, projecting the person westward before he came to rest in the westbound travel lanes. The driver pulled over, called 9-1-1, and remained at the roadside after the collision.
Emergency units arrived and took the victim to Sunrise Trauma, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit for ongoing treatment due to life-threatening injuries. Investigators reported that the motorist showed no signs of impairment. No names were released following the crash. Detectives are continuing to gather facts as they work to determine all the circumstances surrounding the roadway incident.
We hope the injured man experiences a full and steady recovery.
Why Crosswalk Use and Road Visibility Matter in Pedestrian Traffic Incidents
Pedestrian crashes usually occur when people attempt to cross busy roads outside designated crossing points. Marked and unmarked crosswalks are designed to provide more predictable locations for drivers and pedestrians to interact, helping reduce the risk of serious injuries.
Visibility can also influence roadway safety. Factors such as lighting conditions, traffic speed, vehicle stopping distance, and a person’s position on the roadway may affect how quickly a driver can recognize and react to someone crossing. Investigators commonly review witness statements, roadway design, traffic patterns, and physical evidence to better understand how a pedestrian-related traffic incident unfolded. Medical updates may also provide additional insight into the severity of injuries and the long-term effects such incidents can have on those involved.
