Newhall, CA (January 4, 2026) – A collision involving a tow truck and a box truck left two people injured on the southbound side of State Route 14 in Newhall. The crash occurred at approximately 11:05 a.m. near the intersection of Sierra Hwy and Dockweiler Dr, prompting a swift response from Los Angeles County Fire Department crews and the California Highway Patrol.
According to early reports, the tow truck, carrying a vehicle on its flatbed, collided with a box truck in the southbound lanes. Following the impact, the tow truck veered off the freeway and came to rest on the dirt shoulder near surface streets, while the box truck overturned and remained on the roadway.
Firefighters worked quickly to extricate the driver and passenger from the tow truck. Emergency responders from Santa Clarita transported both individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. No injuries were reported from the box truck, according to CHP statements at the scene.
As a result of the crash, the No. 4 lane of southbound SR-14 remained closed to facilitate guardrail repairs and debris removal. Authorities remained on scene for several hours to investigate the cause of the collision and ensure roadway safety.
