Charlotte, NC (January 9, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash on the Outer Loop of Interstate 485 in northwest Charlotte resulted in multiple injuries and significant traffic delays Thursday night, prompting a large-scale emergency response and extended road closures.
The crash occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. on January 8 near Brookshire Blvd, affecting traffic between exits 14 and 16. According to MEDIC, four people were injured in the collision. Three individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while one person was reported to have suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for urgent care.
Charlotte Fire and MEDIC units responded swiftly to the scene, providing medical aid and securing the affected area. Traffic along I-485 Outer Loop was heavily impacted, with full closures of the nearby exits.
