Columbus, OH (January 18, 2026) – A pedestrian was killed in a tragic early morning collision on the city’s east side Saturday. The fatal incident occurred at approximately 4:37 a.m. on East Broad Street, just west of Reynolds Crossing Dr, and remains under active investigation by the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit.
According to authorities, the adult pedestrian was attempting to cross East Broad St when they were struck by a westbound black BMW X3. At the time of the crash, vehicular traffic on East Broad reportedly had the right of way with a green traffic signal. First responders arrived quickly and transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. No injuries were reported to the driver, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Columbus Police continue to review evidence and witness statements to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision. The name of the victim has not yet been released, pending family notification.
