Sacramento, CA (January 19, 2026) – The pedestrian who was fatally struck in a collision earlier this week in the Foothill Farms area has been identified by local authorities.
According to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, the victim was 48-year-old Dennis Dean Jr Davis. The incident occurred on Monday, January 12, near the intersection of Elkhorn Blvd and Diablo Dr, just east of Hillsdale Blvd.
Responding units from the California Highway Patrol arrived on scene after Davis was hit by a single vehicle under circumstances that remain unclear. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Davis ultimately succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash.
No further information has been released about the driver or the vehicle involved, and it is not yet known whether the motorist remained at the scene.
Records from the Coroner’s Office confirmed that Davis was unhoused at the time of the accident. Authorities have not indicated whether visibility, lighting, or road conditions may have contributed to the tragedy.
The CHP continues to investigate the fatal incident in hopes of determining the full sequence of events and any possible contributing factors.
