Chesapeake, VA (January 19, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle accident early Monday morning near the intersection of Indian River Rd and Sparrow Rd prompted a large-scale emergency response from fire and EMS crews in Chesapeake.
The crash was reported around 6:23 a.m. and initially included concerns of entrapment. Responding units included Battalion One, Engine Two, Engine Fourteen, Medic Two, Medic Fourteen, Ladder Two, EMS One, and Rescue One.
When crews arrived on scene, they found one vehicle resting on its side and still running, while the other had reportedly caught fire. Fortunately, all occupants had exited the vehicles before the arrival of emergency personnel.
Paramedics evaluated at least two individuals at the scene for injuries. The exact nature and severity of those injuries have not yet been released, but medical treatment was provided. Fire and rescue crews worked to secure the area, check for additional hazards, and ensure no entrapments were present.
The crash caused temporary traffic disruptions during the morning hours as authorities managed the response and began investigating the cause of the collision.
