Pike Co, AL (January 21, 2026) – A 16-year-old boy was seriously injured on Monday after being struck by a semi-truck on the shoulder of Highway 231, according to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred between Troy and the Montgomery County line after the teen’s family pulled over on the northbound side of the highway. The family had struck a deer, prompting them to stop and check on the animal.
As the teen exited the vehicle to inspect the scene, he was struck by a passing semi-truck. According to Chief Deputy Buck Williams, the teen suffered a broken leg and was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders arrived quickly to assist, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is currently investigating the incident.
