Riverside County, CA (January 30, 2026) – A person was hospitalized following a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Lake Mathews, according to the California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 4:05 p.m. on Cajalco Rd just east of El Sobrante Rd, near Riverside County Fire Department Station 4.
The collision involved a blue Jeep Wrangler and a blue Chevrolet. Both vehicles sustained damage in the crash, which occurred under circumstances that have not yet been fully determined.
Paramedics arrived quickly to assess those involved. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries described as minor to moderate. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
Authorities cleared the area and began investigating the cause of the collision. Weather conditions were clear at the time, and CHP officials continue to review potential contributing factors.
