How Medical Emergencies Can Lead to Sudden Traffic Crashes
Medical emergencies behind the wheel can create dangerous situations on local roads. Conditions such as fainting, dizziness, or other sudden health issues may cause a driver to lose control or drift out of their lane.
When a vehicle crosses the centerline, the risk of a side-impact crash increases. Even at moderate speeds, these collisions can result in injuries due to the limited space between drivers in opposite lanes.
Safety experts encourage drivers with known medical conditions to consult healthcare providers about whether it is safe to operate a vehicle. Family members should also be aware of warning signs that may affect a loved one’s ability to drive safely.
