Why Do Motorcycle and SUV Collisions Often Result in Severe Injuries?
Motorcycle crashes frequently lead to serious outcomes because riders have far less protection than those inside larger vehicles. Even when wearing helmets and protective gear, motorcyclists are exposed to direct impact.
Intersections are common locations for motorcycle accidents. Turning vehicles, changing signals, and multiple lanes of traffic can create sudden conflicts. Drivers of larger vehicles may not always see a motorcycle approaching, especially in busy urban areas.
SUVs are heavier and sit higher off the ground than many passenger cars. When a collision occurs, the size difference can increase the force experienced by the rider, often leading to more severe injuries.
