The Risks of Head-On Collisions on Two-Lane Highways
Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of collisions, often resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. On two-lane highways, crossing the center line can happen due to excessive speed, distraction, or misjudging a curve. When vehicles collide head-on, the combined impact force is significantly higher than in side or rear-end crashes.
Wearing seat belts can reduce the severity of injuries, but the speed and angle of impact are major factors in outcomes. Road conditions, visibility, and traffic patterns also affect the likelihood of a collision. Drivers are generally advised to stay within their lanes, reduce speed on curves, and remain alert to oncoming traffic to minimize the risk of such deadly accidents.
