Lexington, KY (March 4, 2026) – A 78-year-old man died on Tuesday, March 3, after a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Man O’ War Boulevard and Blazer Parkway in Lexington. The collision happened earlier in the day at the busy Fayette County intersection.
Emergency units responded to the crash and found multiple vehicles involved. Firefighters used specialized equipment to free two people trapped inside damaged vehicles.
Authorities said four people were taken to nearby hospitals following the crash. Early reports indicated their injuries were not life-threatening.
The Fayette County Coroner later identified the victim as Roy Gentry of Clay City. He died later that afternoon in the emergency department at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Officials determined his death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries suffered during the crash.
The collision caused major traffic backups at the intersection while crews worked to clear the area. Roadways were later reopened after vehicles were removed.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Roy Gentry.
Why Multi-Vehicle Crashes Often Occur at Busy Intersections
Intersections with heavy traffic volumes can experience higher rates of multi-vehicle crashes. When several lanes of traffic converge and drivers attempt turns, merges, or lane changes, the risk of vehicle conflicts increases.
Traffic signals help control the flow of vehicles, but collisions can still occur when drivers misjudge timing or distance. Sudden stops, turning vehicles, and limited reaction time may cause chain-reaction crashes involving several cars.
Vehicle speed and congestion levels can also affect how severe these collisions become. When multiple vehicles are traveling through the same intersection at once, even a single mistake can lead to several cars becoming involved in the accident.
