Police reported that 83-year-old Shirley Lovett, traveling north on Cloverdale, failed to stop at a red light. Her vehicle collided with another car heading west on Executive Drive. Lovett was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. No additional details about the second driver have been released.
Authorities continue investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Lovett.
Why Intersection Crashes Are Often Severe
Collisions at intersections can be particularly dangerous because vehicles are often moving in different directions at the point of impact. Failure to obey traffic signals or stop signs greatly increases the risk of injury or death.
Even low-speed crashes can cause serious harm, especially to older drivers. Emergency responders prioritize rapid medical care and scene management to protect everyone involved while investigators piece together how the crash occurred.
