What “Entrapment” Means in Crash Response Situations
In crash reports, the term “entrapment” is used when someone may be stuck inside a vehicle and unable to get out without help. This can happen when a vehicle is heavily damaged, especially around the doors or frame.
Fire crews are trained to use special tools to safely remove doors or cut through parts of the vehicle if needed. Even when people are able to exit on their own before crews arrive, the initial report may still include possible entrapment based on early calls.
Situations like these often require a careful approach to make sure anyone hurt is moved safely and receives proper care as quickly as possible.
