How Do High-Speed Pursuits Increase Crash Risks?
High-speed pursuits can significantly increase the likelihood of crashes due to elevated speeds and reduced reaction times. Drivers involved in pursuits may take risks that endanger themselves and others on the road.
As speeds increase, vehicles become harder to control, especially when navigating turns or intersections.
Law enforcement agencies often weigh the risks of continuing a pursuit against public safety, as these situations can quickly become dangerous.
