Oxnard, CA (September 8, 2026) – A 25-year-old man suffered critical injuries when the 2024 Mercedes-Benz he was driving collided with an Amtrak train around 8:05 p.m. Sunday, September 6, at Fifth Street and Rose Avenue in Oxnard.
The driver became trapped inside the vehicle and was rescued by firefighters. He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center and remained in critical condition. His name was not released. The train was traveling southbound through Oxnard along Fifth Street, while the Mercedes-Benz was traveling southbound on Rose Avenue toward the intersection.
Investigators said the vehicle stopped on the tracks before the train struck it. The train had about 400 passengers aboard, who were checked for possible injuries. No additional passenger injuries were reported in the information provided.
