Why Highway Motorcycle Crashes Can Cause Major Delays
Highway crashes involving motorcycles can quickly disrupt traffic flow, especially near major interchanges. These areas often carry a high volume of vehicles moving at varying speeds, which can increase the chance of sudden slowdowns when a crash occurs.
Motorcycles offer less protection than larger vehicles, which can lead to more serious injuries even in moderate-speed incidents. Because of this, emergency response may take longer as crews work carefully to assist those involved and clear the roadway safely.
When multiple lanes are closed, traffic can back up for miles in a matter of minutes. Drivers approaching the area may not immediately see the cause of the slowdown, making it harder to react quickly and increasing overall congestion.
