What Factors Are Often Reviewed in Highway Intersection Crashes
Crashes that occur at highway intersections with crossing traffic routes often require a detailed reconstruction of vehicle paths. Investigators typically examine which direction each vehicle was traveling and whether either driver had the right of way at the time of impact.
Road conditions such as visibility, weather, and surface traction are also commonly reviewed, even when conditions appear normal. These factors can influence braking distance and driver reaction time, especially on high-speed roadways such as highways.
Vehicle safety features, including seat belt use and airbag deployment, are also noted during post-crash assessments. These details help provide context on injury outcomes and how occupants were protected during the collision.
