Why Intersection Collisions Can Be Dangerous
Crashes that occur at intersections are often severe because vehicles may be traveling in different directions and at varying speeds when they collide. Drivers approaching intersections must make quick decisions about whether to turn, stop, or continue through the crossing.
When one driver fails to yield or misjudges traffic flow, a sudden collision can occur. These crashes may cause vehicles to spin or lose control, which can increase the risk of injuries and significant damage.
Ejections during crashes are also particularly dangerous and often happen when the force of impact is strong enough to throw an occupant from the vehicle. Seatbelt use and proper vehicle safety systems play a critical role in reducing the risk of serious injuries in these types of accidents.
