Why Tree Collisions Often Lead to Serious Injuries
Crashes involving vehicles leaving the roadway and striking trees can result in severe outcomes due to the sudden stop caused by the impact. Trees are solid, fixed objects that do not absorb energy the way other vehicles might during a collision.
When a vehicle veers off the road, factors such as speed, driver fatigue, or limited visibility can contribute to the loss of control. Early morning hours may also increase risk due to lower traffic and reduced alertness.
In crashes where occupants are trapped, emergency crews may need specialized tools to safely remove them. The level of injury can depend on how fast the vehicle was traveling and how the impact occurred.
