Boone County, KY (April 7, 2026) – A teenager lost his life, and two others were hurt following a rollover crash on Sunday night, April 5, on Bullittsville Road near Cornerstone Drive in Boone County.
Emergency units were called to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. for a report of an overturned vehicle. When crews arrived, they found 16-year-old Zachary Snyder partially ejected from the car and trapped underneath. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, along with an 18-year-old woman, were taken to nearby hospitals with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Investigators reported that neither the driver nor Snyder was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Preliminary information suggests the driver may have been speeding, lost control while navigating a curve, and overcorrected before the vehicle overturned. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
Why Rollover Crashes Often Result in Severe Injuries
Rollover crashes are among the most dangerous types of traffic incidents, often resulting in serious or fatal injuries. These crashes can happen when a vehicle loses stability, especially at higher speeds or while turning sharply. Overcorrection during steering is a common factor that can cause a vehicle to tip or flip.
Occupant protection plays a major role in survival during a rollover. Seatbelts help keep people inside the vehicle and reduce the chance of being thrown from it. Ejection greatly increases the risk of severe injury or death.
Roadway curves, speed, and driver control all influence how these crashes unfold. Vehicles that leave the roadway or shift weight suddenly are more likely to overturn under certain conditions.
