Covington, KY (April 7, 2026) – Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash involving two vehicles led to a pedestrian being struck on Monday afternoon, April 6, in Covington.
The incident occurred just after 12 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth St and Scott St. Emergency units responded after a car and a truck traveling in the same direction collided.
According to information from the scene, the car crossed the center lane and hit the truck. The impact caused the truck to lose control, strike a pedestrian, and then crash into a nearby butcher shop. The driver of the car was described as elderly and appeared confused at the time.
The pedestrian was taken to UC Medical Center in stable condition. The truck driver was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital with minor injuries. No one inside the butcher shop was hurt, though the building sustained minor damage.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while crews worked at the scene and has since reopened. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We are thinking of those injured and wish them a full recovery.
What Happens When a Crash Involves a Pedestrian and Nearby Structures
Crashes involving pedestrians and buildings can create complex situations for responders. When a vehicle leaves its lane or loses control, it may strike people on sidewalks or enter nearby structures, increasing the risk of injury and property damage.
Pedestrians are especially vulnerable because they have no protection against the force of a moving vehicle. Even at moderate speeds, injuries can occur quickly. Nearby businesses or buildings may also be affected, depending on how far the vehicle travels after impact.
These incidents often require a coordinated response to assist those hurt, secure the area, and assess any structural concerns. Cleanup and repairs may take time before normal activity can safely resume.
