Bellingham, MA (May 18, 2026) – A man riding a motorized scooter suffered critical injuries after being struck by a vehicle Sunday evening in Bellingham, according to local police.
Emergency crews responded around 5:35 p.m. to South Main Street near the VFW following multiple 911 calls reporting a crash involving a scooter and a car. Police and fire personnel arrived to find the scooter operator, a man believed to be in his 60s, unconscious but still breathing. Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was airlifted by Boston MedFlight to a regional trauma center for emergency treatment.
Authorities stated that the driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with investigators. A witness to the crash also stopped and provided a statement to responding officers. South Main Street was temporarily closed while accident reconstruction crews processed the scene and gathered evidence. The exact cause of the collision has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.
