Why Rear-End Crashes on Highways Can Become More Severe
Rear-end crashes on highways often happen at higher speeds, which can increase the force of impact. When vehicles are traveling close together, drivers may have little time to react if traffic suddenly slows or stops.
These types of crashes can sometimes lead to secondary hazards, including fires or additional collisions. Fuel systems and engine components may be damaged during impact, increasing the risk of a fire.
Traffic congestion and sudden braking patterns are also common factors. Staying alert, maintaining safe following distances, and adjusting speed based on traffic flow can help reduce the likelihood of these incidents.
