Bonneville County, ID (January 20, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon at the intersection of 81st N and 15th E resulted in one fatality, multiple injuries, and the overturning of a pickup truck and horse trailer, according to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported at approximately 4:25 p.m., prompting a response from Bonneville County Sheriff’s deputies and Idaho Falls Fire. Upon arrival, emergency crews found that a Toyota Prius traveling southbound on 15th E had collided with a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer that was traveling east on 81st N.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicles collided in the intersection, causing the pickup and attached trailer to overturn. A horse inside the trailer was injured as a result of the crash.
The driver of the pickup, an adult male, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The adult male driver of the Toyota Prius was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire crews before being transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Tragically, an adult female passenger in the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene. Fire personnel also had to extricate her from the vehicle.
Officers from Ucon Police and Idaho Falls Police, who were nearby at the time of the call, assisted with traffic control and scene management. Deputies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, and no additional details have been released.
