What Are the Biggest Fire Risks in a Home?
Many residential fires begin from everyday household hazards that can quickly become dangerous under certain conditions. Cooking equipment left unattended is one of the most common causes, especially when heat sources remain active for long periods.
Electrical problems also contribute to many home fires. Damaged wiring, overloaded outlets, or aging appliances may overheat and ignite nearby materials. Heating devices placed too close to furniture or curtains can also increase fire risk during colder months.
Other hazards include candles, smoking materials, and improperly stored flammable items. Regular maintenance of appliances and keeping living spaces free from clutter around heat sources may help lower the chance of a fire starting inside a home.
