Brooklyn, NY (February 2, 2026) – A serious overnight accident involving an e-bike and an ambulance claimed the life of a man early on Sunday morning in Brooklyn, according to information released by authorities. The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. on February 1 at the intersection of Ashland Pl and Willoughby Ave.
Reports indicate that an ambulance traveling northbound on Ashland Pl was involved in a collision with an e-bike moving in the opposite direction through the intersection. The e-bike rider, a 65-year-old man, suffered critical injuries as a result of the accident. Emergency medical services provided immediate care, and the man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The ambulance driver, a 21-year-old, remained at the scene following the incident. Two additional occupants of the ambulance, both employees, sustained a variety of injuries and were taken to area hospitals for treatment. They were reported to be in stable condition.
The intersection experienced temporary disruptions as authorities secured the area and began documenting the scene. The New York City Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
