Why Curve-Related Crashes Can Lead to Rollovers and Serious Injuries
Crashes that begin on curves often become more severe when a vehicle leaves the roadway and re-enters traffic. Drivers may lose traction or misjudge speed while navigating bends, especially on rural highways with limited shoulders.
When a vehicle crosses the center line and then overcorrects, it can increase the risk of secondary impacts or rollovers. These events result in more serious injuries due to multiple points of collision and sudden vehicle instability.
Investigators typically review roadway design, tire marks, and vehicle movement patterns to understand how the crash developed. Seat belt use, speed, and road conditions are also key factors in determining injury severity.
