How Do Structure Fires Impact Mixed-Use Properties?
Areas with multiple access points near Monterey Avenue can complicate emergency responses. When a fire occurs in Capitola, responders often focus on containing flames and preventing them from spreading to nearby structures.
Buildings that combine residential units with nearby commercial spaces may allow fire and smoke to move between connected areas. Shared walls, ceilings, and attic spaces can provide pathways for heat and smoke to spread beyond the original fire location.
Even after flames are controlled, smoke and heat can cause significant damage throughout the building. Crews often remain at the scene to monitor the structure and confirm that hidden hot spots do not reignite.
