Carter, MO (January 21, 2026) – A man was killed on Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of MO-B and MO-K, just east of Grandin, after his vehicle failed to stop at a posted sign and was struck by another truck, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol officials.
The tragic crash occurred at approximately 12:56 p.m. on January 20. Authorities reported that a 39-year-old male from Ellsinore, driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty northbound on MO-K, did not stop at the intersection and entered the path of a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado traveling east on MO-B. The impact resulted in the Jeep being struck with significant force, causing the driver to be ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene. However, the driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased at 1:30 p.m. by Carter County Coroner Joe Ben Chapman. The victim was transported to McSpadden Funeral Home following the on-scene investigation. Officials confirmed the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 67-year-old male from Doniphan, sustained no reported injuries, but his vehicle was also heavily damaged. Both vehicles were towed from the scene at the request of law enforcement.
Trooper C. M. Dougherty led the investigation, with assistance from multiple members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Major Crash Investigation Unit. Authorities noted that this marks Troop G’s second fatality of the year, compared to three at this point in 2025.
Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life in this devastating accident.
