Why Crashes Involving Three-Wheel Vehicles Can Be Especially Serious
Three-wheel vehicles can respond differently from standard passenger cars, particularly during sudden steering or lane changes. When a collision occurs at highway speeds, riders face a greater chance of being thrown from the vehicle, especially if occupant restraints are not present or are not used. The speed of surrounding traffic can also increase the severity of injuries.
Reviews of these crashes commonly examine vehicle movements, traffic flow, roadway conditions, and physical evidence from the scene. Damage to the vehicles, witness statements, and available video footage may also help clarify the sequence of events. In incidents involving multiple vehicles, investigators typically work to determine each vehicle’s actions before and during the collision.
