What Factors Are Often Reviewed in Single-Vehicle Road Crashes?
In single-vehicle crashes, early attention is often given to how the driver lost control and what conditions were present on the roadway. Investigators typically look at speed, road layout, and visibility to better understand the sequence of events.
Seatbelt use is also reviewed, especially when passengers are seriously hurt. It can help explain the severity of injuries in the impact. Vehicle condition may also be examined, including tire wear, steering issues, or mechanical failure.
Road features such as curves, slopes, or nearby obstacles like trees can also provide context. Even weather conditions at the time may be considered to build a clearer picture of what happened before the crash.
