How Three-Vehicle Crashes Can Affect Highway Traffic
Three-vehicle crashes can create complicated scenes because more than one impact may occur. A first collision can lead to another if nearby drivers cannot slow down in time. This can make it harder to determine vehicle movement after the crash.
Highway crashes often cause temporary lane closures while damaged vehicles are moved and injured people receive care. Even after a road reopens, traffic might remain slow as drivers pass the area and crews clear debris.
In crashes with multiple vehicles, medical teams may check each person for signs of injury. Some people may need hospital care even if the damage does not look severe at first. Early treatment helps identify injuries that might not be clear at the scene.
