Why Bicycle Crashes Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Bicyclists can suffer serious injuries because they have little protection during a crash. A vehicle impact can affect the head, arms, legs, chest, or back. Even a brief collision can lead to major harm.
Morning traffic can add risk for bicyclists and drivers sharing the road. Sun glare, lane changes, turning traffic, and busy intersections may affect visibility. Drivers may also have less time to react when traffic is moving quickly.
After a bicycle crash, medical teams often check for head trauma, broken bones, and internal injuries. Some symptoms may appear at the scene, while others might become clear later. Hospital testing can help show the full extent of the injuries.
