Cole Co, MO (January 8, 2026) – A 16-year-old male motorcyclist was injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on the westbound US 50 ramp leading to Route D. The crash occurred at approximately 4:04 p.m., drawing a response from Cole County EMS and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities report that the crash happened when a 1997 Honda Accord, driven by a 32-year-old Jefferson City man, slowed for an unrelated vehicle stopped on the right shoulder. The rider of a 2001 Suzuki SV800GL, traveling behind the Accord, failed to notice the slowdown and struck the rear of the car. The teen motorcyclist, a resident of Centertown, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders treated the teen at the scene before transporting him to SSM Health St. Mary’s for treatment of injuries. The Suzuki sustained minor damage and was secured at the scene, while the Honda was driven away without the need for towing.
SGT. A. R. Sullivan of Troop F led the investigation. The crash remains under review.
Our thoughts are with the injured teen and we wish him a safe and full recovery.
