The collision, reported at approximately 5:58 p.m., involved a black pickup truck and a dark-colored four-door sedan.
The impact appeared to be a T-bone collision, resulting in significant vehicle damage and airbag deployment in both vehicles. Monument Fire and Rescue crews arrived quickly on scene and began providing care to the injured parties. A second ambulance was dispatched due to the number of people requiring evaluation.
At least one individual was transported to a hospital but reportedly exited the ambulance upon arrival and refused further treatment. The person was last seen walking eastbound toward Union Blvd, wearing a green hoodie and torn blue jeans.
The crash occurred across from a local bank and caused temporary disruption to traffic in the area. Responders coordinated with law enforcement, who were expected to arrive on scene within ten minutes of the initial call. Authorities have not released the names of those involved or the extent of their injuries.
An investigation is underway to determine what caused the crash, including whether speed, distraction, or failure to yield may have been contributing factors.
We send our sincere well wishes to all those affected and hope for a full recovery for the injured parties.
