Columbus, OH (March 22, 2026) – Three people lost their lives, and several others were hurt after a fire broke out at an apartment building in north Columbus on Friday, March 20.
Emergency units were called to the 200 block of Broad Meadows Blvd around 2:45 p.m. after reports of a fire. Crews arrived and began pulling residents from the 39-unit building as smoke and flames spread through the structure.
A total of 11 people were taken to nearby hospitals. Three of them later died, while the conditions of the remaining eight have not been fully confirmed. Earlier updates indicated that several of those hospitalized were in critical condition.
Roughly 100 firefighters responded to the scene to control the fire and assist with rescues. Officials believe the fire may have originated on the first floor, although this has not been confirmed. One firefighter was also treated at the scene for overexertion.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
