How Stop Sign Violations Can Lead to Serious Intersection Crashes
Intersections controlled by stop signs rely on drivers to come to a complete stop and yield before proceeding. When a driver fails to stop, it can result in sudden collisions with vehicles already entering or crossing the intersection.
These crashes often occur at angles, increasing the risk of serious injuries to occupants on the impacted side. Even at moderate speeds, the force of impact can push vehicles off the road or into nearby objects.
Clear visibility, proper braking, and attention to traffic controls can help reduce the risk of these incidents. Drivers approaching intersections are expected to slow down and confirm that it is safe before proceeding.
