Coryell County, TX (January 8, 2026) – A 68-year-old man from Copperas Cove was tragically killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Wednesday morning along FM 116 in Coryell County, just south of Bratton Rd.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place at approximately 5:56 a.m. A 2025 Honda Civic, driven by a 26-year-old man from Virginia, was headed southbound when it reportedly lost control due to unsafe speed on a damp roadway. The Honda veered into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan Sentra traveling north.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Scott Blair Fraser of Copperas Cove, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Coy Latham. DPS officials confirmed that his next of kin have been notified.
The driver of the Honda suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple for further treatment. Authorities have not released any further details on his current condition.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash, which remains under active investigation by Texas DPS.
