Albany, GA (July 22, 2026) – A woman was taken into custody after police said she stole a patrol vehicle during a domestic incident response and later crashed into multiple vehicles and fences in Albany on Monday afternoon, July 20. The incident began around 2:40 p.m. in the 2600 block of Gillionville Road.
According to the police, officers were responding to a domestic incident when they encountered 27-year-old Teannia Broadnax, who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis. While officers waited for a crisis response team, police said Broadnax entered a patrol vehicle and drove away as officers attempted to remove her.
The police said Broadnax later crashed into two vehicles on Gillionville Road. One driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by EMS. She then drove to the 400 block of Forest Glen Drive, where the patrol vehicle struck two fences before she left the vehicle and fled on foot.
Officers located Broadnax nearby and took her into custody. She was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for evaluation after officers believed she may have ingested an unknown substance. The incident remains under review by authorities.
