Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crashes Can Develop in Stages on Highways
Multi-vehicle crashes on highways can sometimes unfold in stages, especially when an initial collision is followed by additional impacts. Vehicles approaching the first crash may not have enough time to slow down or avoid the scene, leading to further collisions.
When tanker trucks or other large vehicles are involved, the risk of fire can increase due to fuel or cargo. Fires can spread quickly, adding danger for those involved and complicating rescue efforts.
Highway conditions such as limited visibility, nighttime driving, and traffic speed can all contribute to these chain-reaction events. These situations often require extended closures as crews respond to both the crash damage and any resulting fire.
