Crashes Involving Pedestrians Can Lead to Severe Harm
Pedestrians are especially vulnerable in traffic incidents because they have no physical protection. When a vehicle leaves the roadway, the risk of serious injury or death increases significantly for those nearby.
High-speed driving can make these situations more dangerous. Drivers may lose control more easily, especially when attempting sudden maneuvers. When a vehicle crosses lanes or exits the road, it can strike people in areas not typically meant for traffic.
Roadside walking areas can also vary in safety. Some roads lack sidewalks or barriers, placing pedestrians closer to moving vehicles. Visibility, speed, and driver awareness all influence how these incidents occur and their outcomes.
