Dorr, MI (April 19, 2026) – A serious crash with reported injuries occurred Sunday afternoon, April 19, at the intersection of 142nd Ave and 35th Ave in Dorr.
The incident was first reported around 3:45 p.m. after a caller said they heard a loud crash. Emergency units were dispatched to the scene, where early reports indicated at least two people may have been hurt, with one possibly pinned inside a vehicle.
By approximately 3:53 p.m., crews were arriving and preparing for a possible airlift if entrapment was confirmed. A few minutes later, responders found one female suffering from chest pain. The reported entrapment appeared to be caused by a vehicle positioned against a nearby tree.
At around 4:05 p.m., officials confirmed that two patients had injuries. One patient was later classified as a priority case and was placed into an ambulance by 4:08 p.m., while a second unit remained en route to assist. The roadway was shut down at the intersection during the response.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available. Our thoughts are with those affected as they continue to recover.
How Roadside Obstacles Can Affect Crash Outcomes
When a vehicle leaves the roadway or collides near fixed objects, the risk of injury can increase significantly. Trees, utility poles, and other roadside obstacles do not move on impact, which can lead to more severe damage compared to collisions involving only vehicles.
Entrapment may occur when a vehicle becomes pressed against an object or is structurally compromised. This can make it harder for occupants to exit safely and may require specialized tools to remove them.
Injury patterns can also vary depending on how the crash unfolds. Chest pain, for example, may result from impact with a steering wheel or seatbelt force. Road closures are common in these situations, as crews work to safely assist those involved and clear the scene.
