What Drivers in Texas Should Know About Crashes at Highway Exit Ramps
Exit ramps on Texas highways, such as US-75, can be particularly hazardous for collisions. Vehicles often merge, slow down, or change lanes over short distances, which can lead to unexpected conflicts between drivers. When traffic is heavy or moving at highway speeds, the margin for error near exit points becomes very small.
Crashes near exit ramps that result in lane closures can quickly back up traffic, especially on corridors connecting cities like Denison to the wider North Texas region. The severity of injuries in these crashes often depends on vehicle speed at the moment of impact and whether safety features like airbags and seat belts were properly engaged. Drivers approaching highway exits benefit from maintaining safe following distances and watching for vehicles that may slow suddenly ahead.
