How Hit-and-Run Crashes Involving Cyclists Can Turn Deadly
Crashes involving bicycles can quickly become severe due to the lack of protection for riders. When a cyclist is struck and falls into the roadway, the risk of being hit again by other vehicles increases, especially at night or in areas with heavy traffic.
Visibility plays a major role in these incidents. Drivers may have limited time to react if a person is already down in the roadway. Lighting conditions, speed, and traffic flow can all affect the outcome.
Staying at the scene after a crash allows for immediate medical care and helps prevent further harm. Quick emergency response is critical in reducing the chances of fatal outcomes in these situations.
