Lake Township, OH (July 5, 2026) – A fatal two-vehicle crash was reported on Friday afternoon, July 3, at approximately 1:58 p.m. on State Route 579 near milepost 1 in Lake Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Jeep Wrangler and a 2014 GMC Acadia were both traveling eastbound when the Jeep failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. The Jeep struck the rear of the GMC, causing the Jeep to leave the roadway.
After the impact, the Jeep traveled off the north side of the road and overturned. The driver of the Jeep, identified as 46-year-old Aaron Stoldt of Toledo, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the GMC Acadia was not reported to have been seriously injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Bowling Green Post. Authorities were assisted at the scene by multiple local agencies, including fire, EMS, law enforcement, and towing services. Our condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the driver.
