Cambridge, MD (July 5, 2026) – One person was killed, and four others were injured on Friday night in a three-vehicle crash on US Route 50 near Mt Holly Road east of Cambridge. Emergency units responded around 10:15 p.m. on July 3, after reports of a rollover crash involving entrapment and a vehicle fire.
According to the Maryland State Police, all three vehicles were traveling eastbound on US 50 when a vehicle driven by 43-year-old James Demby of Cambridge attempted to move between the other two vehicles, striking both. The vehicle then struck a light pole before coming to rest in a ditch. Demby was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other drivers, a 40-year-old man and a 17-year-old male, were injured.
Two 17-year-old passengers were also hurt. One passenger was flown to a trauma center, while the remaining injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Investigators are working to determine what led to the crash, and further updates will be provided when available.
