Warren County, MO (July 15, 2026) – Eight people suffered injuries following a five-vehicle collision on eastbound Interstate 70 at mile marker 203 in Warren County on Monday, July 13.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:46 p.m. and involved three passenger vehicles along with two tractor-trailers. The sequence began when a Volvo tractor-trailer struck the rear of an Infiniti QX80. The impact pushed the Infiniti into a Lexus RX350, causing the Lexus to rotate. A second tractor-trailer then struck both the Infiniti and the Lexus before continuing forward and hitting a Toyota Camry, sending the Camry off the right side of the roadway.

Eight people were hurt in the crash, including three children. A 6-year-old girl, an 8-year-old boy, and a 22-year-old woman suffered minor injuries. A 14-year-old girl, a 22-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, the 26-year-old Toyota driver, and the 86-year-old Lexus driver sustained moderate injuries. All were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Officials continue to look into the crash and will provide more information once it becomes available. Our thoughts are with everyone injured, and we hope they recover quickly.

What Can Cause Chain-Reaction Crashes on Interstates?

Chain-reaction crashes can occur when an initial impact pushes one vehicle into another, creating multiple collisions within a short distance. Heavy traffic, limited following distance, and sudden stops can increase the likelihood of several vehicles becoming involved in the same incident.

Commercial trucks and passenger vehicles traveling together on interstates require additional space to react to changing traffic conditions. Maintaining a safe following distance, staying attentive, and adjusting speed for traffic flow can help reduce the risk of multi-vehicle crashes and lessen the severity when collisions occur.
