Traffic Hazards After Truck and Semi-Truck Crashes
Crashes involving trucks and semi-trucks can block travel lanes quickly because of the size of the vehicles. Even a two-vehicle collision may close both directions of a highway while crews respond.
Semi-trucks may need more room to stop, turn, or clear an intersection. Other vehicles nearby may face limited space to move around the scene once lanes are blocked.
After a truck crash, emergency units often check for head injuries, neck pain, back trauma, broken bones, and internal injuries. Crews may also need to manage debris, leaking fluids, and damaged vehicle parts before traffic can safely resume.
