What Happens During Crashes Linked to Traffic Stops
Crashes that occur during attempted traffic stops can involve sudden changes in speed or direction. Drivers may react quickly when signaled to pull over, which can lead to loss of control.
When another vehicle is nearby, it may become involved even if it is not part of the initial situation. These incidents can happen on busy roadways where traffic is already moving at varying speeds.
Road layout, timing, and driver actions all affect how these crashes unfold. The presence of multiple vehicles can increase the chance of a serious outcome.
